GloRilla

GloRilla is an American rapper who has emerged as one of the leading voices in modern Southern hip-hop. Characterized by her deep, commanding voice and high-energy delivery, she represents a major revival of classic Memphis crunk music.

Early Life & Origins

GloRilla was born Gloria Hallelujah Woods on July 28, 1999, in Memphis, Tennessee. Raised in the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis, she grew up in a religious household and spent much of her childhood singing in church choirs. She was homeschooled until the fifth grade. Initially, her goal was to become a traditional singer, but after experiencing vocal changes, she transitioned into rapping around 2016. She chose the stage name GloRilla by combining her first name with a personal nickname.

Career Breakthrough (2022)

After releasing independent music for a few years, GloRilla achieved explosive mainstream fame in April 2022 with the release of her single "F.N.F. (Let's Go)," a collaborative track with producer Hitkidd. The track became an instant viral sensation and a widespread cultural anthem. The song's massive success quickly caught the attention of the music industry and began to dismantle skepticism regarding her longevity. In July 2022, she officially signed a recording contract with fellow Memphis native Yo Gotti's record label, Collective Music Group (CMG). "F.N.F. (Let's Go)" eventually went on to be nominated for Best Rap Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

Mainstream Consolidation

GloRilla followed up her breakout success by teaming up with Cardi B for the single "Tomorrow 2" in September 2022, which became a back-to-back massive viral blockbuster. The song was a major commercial hit, climbing into the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100. In November 2022, she released her debut major-label EP, Anyways, Life's Great, which further elevated her status. Her rapid ascension earned her a spot in the 2023 XXL Freshman Class and solidified her presence as a mainstay in contemporary rap music.

Debut Studio Album: GLORIOUS (2024)

In October 2024, GloRilla released her highly anticipated full-length studio debut album, titled GLORIOUS. The album's rollout was anchored by the summer smash single "TGIF," which became another massive viral blockbuster. GLORIOUS allowed GloRilla to showcase a multi-dimensional side of her artistry, balancing her signature rowdy club anthems with deeply personal records. The album integrated her childhood spiritual roots on gospel-trap records like "Rain Down on Me" (featuring Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music) and explored vulnerability on tracks like "Glo’s Prayer". The project successfully demonstrated her cohesive architectural vision for a full-length album and verified her status as an enduring star in the hip-hop landscape.
