Anderson .Paak

Brandon Paak Anderson (born February 8, 1986) is a one-man rhythmic powerhouse who injected live instrumentation and deeply personal storytelling back into the bloodstream of mainstream hip-hop and R&B. Emerging from Oxnard, California, .Paak is a singer, rapper, drummer, and producer whose sprawling, sun-baked sound defies easy categorization. As a 9-time Grammy winner, he has established himself not just as a generational talent behind the drum kit, but as one of the most versatile and vital curators in modern music.

From the Church Pews to Compton

.Paak’s musical foundation was poured in the Black church, where he first learned to command a drum kit and absorb the ethereally raspy voices of gospel choirs. After years of grinding in the Los Angeles underground—including a brief stint under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy—.Paak caught the ear of Dr. Dre. His standout, star-making features on Dre’s 2015 album Compton set the stage for his 2016 magnum opus, Malibu, a project that fundamentally shifted the landscape of neo-soul by daring to be overwhelmingly vibrant and musical.

The Collaborative Shapeshifter

What makes .Paak a defining artist of his era is his chameleonic ability to elevate any room he enters. Alongside producer Knxwledge, he forms NxWorries, an acclaimed underground duo that took home the Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album for their long-awaited 2024 project, Why Lawd?.
In 2021, he teamed up with Bruno Mars to form the R&B superduo Silk Sonic. Their debut, An Evening with Silk Sonic, dominated the culture, effortlessly channeling luxurious 1970s funk and sweeping four Grammys on the back of the inescapable anthem "Leave the Door Open."

The Multihyphenate Era

Never content to remain stagnant, .Paak recently expanded his creative footprint into global cinema. In 2026, he officially stepped into his auteur era by writing, directing, and starring in his debut feature film, K-POPS!, which premiered globally on Netflix.
Accompanied by a groundbreaking 17-track crossover album, the project saw .Paak meticulously bridging Western R&B with the global K-pop phenomenon, uniting an elite roster of South Korean idols and hip-hop heavyweights under one cohesive, funk-infused umbrella. Recently named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026, Anderson .Paak has proven that his groove knows absolutely no boundaries.
